How light strikes the face is one of the key elements in building a successful portrait. Joel Grimes has spent 45 years refining his craft, traveling the globe to create ad campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the industry. From celebrities to Olympic athletes, Joel's masterful use of light has made him one of the most recognized portrait photographers in the world. If your goal is to catapult your portrait skills to a whole new level, this workshop is for you.
Each day begins with keynote lectures, followed by hands-on sessions using models to create stunning portraits. Joel will emphasize techniques for shaping light with strobes and modifiers, empowering every attendee with the confidence to produce dramatic portraits independently and build a compelling body of work. You'll participate in every portrait session, capturing your own images along the way.

Models/Subjects: For the hands-on shooting portion of the workshop, we will be bringing in some top models and subjects to create stunning images.
Workshop Location:
This workshop is held in ACR Studios ( 2222 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85006 ), just minutes away from Phoenxi downtown and minutes from the Phoenix Skyharbor International Airport.
Meals: We will cover lunch for each day (Sat.-Sun) and will have dinner Saturday night at local resturant close to the workshop studio.

What to bring: Bring your basic camera equipment, geared toward studio portrait shooting. It would also be recommended to bring a travel-size tripod. Joel will supply all the lighting gear for the afternoon hands-on shooting portion.
